Developer logs
Logs are a critical part of every development workflow. They allow engineers to understand what’s happening at each stage of an application—both during development and within live production environments.
The product
Lifion, a sector within ADP, builds highly customizable HR software for enterprise clients. I joined a team responsible for creating an internal development environment used by engineers across the organization.
My role
As Design Lead, I owned the end-to-end design process for a new logging product. This included concept development, research, wireframes, visual design, prototyping, and ongoing support & iterations.
Impact
Delivered a brand-new logging product that integrated seamlessly with existing developer tools and achieved the highest user satisfaction rating across the platform.

User problem
Within ADP’s development environment, there was no native way to create, manage, or view logs. Engineers relied on third-party tools, which lacked customization and made it difficult to focus on specific issues within their applications. Developers were spending too much time tracking down problems.
Outcome
Enable developers to spend less time on manual or fragmented tasks and more time building quality applications.

Research
Because this was a net-new product within the platform, upfront research was essential to define a usable MVP. I led concept and usability testing to understand developer workflows and uncover product opportunities.
A foundational insight emerged: although the platform positioned itself as low-code, developers wanted an environment that more closely aligned with traditional development tools. This insight guided the product direction and shaped the ideal solution.
Product release
The initial release focused on the highest-value capabilities: creating and managing multiple logs, tracking logs across document types, and essential table functions such as sorting, filtering, URL linking, and status indicators.
What users think
In the company-wide Developer Satisfaction Survey, satisfaction with Logging increased from 6.68/10 during beta to 7.63/10 at general release. In the following quarter, Logging became the highest-rated tool across the entire platform.
"The method of creating the log with the "/" operator to find variables is an excellent idea & more teams need to jump on board"
"The Logiflow and BR test tool have reshaped how I do my development. Because it is easier to test, I am running Logiflows and BRs more frequently during deveopment which means I can catch issues in the code much earlier than before."
