Saucony Stride Lab

With so many running products on the market, Stride Lab offers a different kind of running app: one aimed at improving form, rather than tracking routes.
About

The goal of the Saucony Stride Lab app is to help improve runner’s form and reduce the risk of injury. The app features a series of exercises, designed by a renowned physical therapist, to both identify and improve issues related to running.

My Role

Add value to an existing app created by my coworkers by thinking through the onboarding and profile flow.

Streamlined Onboarding

The app's unique ability to identify and analyze running form came at a cost: there was a significant barrier to entry due to an extensive onboarding process. In order to figure out how best to help runners, users had to complete about 30 minutes worth of exercises and evaluations. To show users the value of completing these exercises, we introduced a Running Profile to visually explain the importance of each step.

Meeting Users Where They Are

We also wanted to be mindful of how users download and use apps. The moment you press the download button may not be the most convenient time to complete an extensive onboarding flow, so we gave users the option to do it later. This gave runners a sneak peek at what the app could offer, and access to complete their Running Profile on their own time.
